Supplements are designed to work with your Original Medicare coverage. You will pay a monthly premium in exchange for little to no co-pays. You will also have the advantage of going to any Doctor or Hospital in the country that accepts Medicare. A separate Drug Plan will be required.

Advantage Plans are managed by private Insurance Companies instead of the Center for Medicare Services (CMS.) You often will not pay any monthly premium, instead paying co-pays and deductibles as care is needed. You will have a network of Doctors and Hospitals that you can access. Many Advantage Plans come with extra benefits such as dental, vision and gym memberships. Drug Plans are also often included. You will be automatically enrolled in Part A and Part B when you turn 65. Important decisions will still need to be made prior to your 65th birthday on which type of plan you want for your Medicare coverage. If you delayed starting your Medicare due to qualifying work coverage and are wishing to start at a later age, you will need to apply through Social Security.

You have a guaranteed issue period during your initial Medicare enrollment. This means that no health condition will be turned down. If you are signing up outside your initial enrollment period, there are some plans that will ask health questions and some that will not.
